HIST 261 (US History 1) and HIST 262 (US History 2)

This is the combined text for both US 1, (which I teach in the Fall) and US 2 (which I teach in the Spring). I use a combined text so you will be able to sell it back regardless whether I am teaching US 1 (261) or US 2 (262). History and Education Majors should keep the text as a basic American History reference (which wouldn't be a bad idea for any of you).

I strongly recommend current editions of the following for all students. History majors and minors should consider Kate Turabian's Manual for Writers a requirement in all History courses.

• David Munger and Shireen Campbell, Researching Online. New York: Longman.

Style guides. All students should have a style guide appropriate for their chosen field. Two highly useful guides are:

• Kate L. Turabian. A Manual for Writers of Term Papers, Theses, and Dissertations. Chicago: University of chicago Press.
• Diana Hacker. A Pocket Style Manual. Boston: Bedford/St. Martin's.
